How does a QR code table menu stay in sync with my POS prices?
SajhiloStay HMS guide · Updated
Put a QR code on each table. Guests scan it and see your live menu — the same items and prices as the POS, so a price change or a sold-out dish shows instantly. They can order from their own phones, the ticket goes straight to the kitchen, and the table can pay by Fonepay QR.
Most QR menus are a PDF of last year's printed menu. The prices go stale the day vegetables get dearer, and the guest still has to wave for a waiter to order. SajhiloStay's table QR is wired into the POS itself.
Why it never goes out of date
- There is one menu. Change a price on the POS and every table sees the new price.
- Mark a dish unavailable and it disappears from the table menu until you bring it back.
- Options and extras — size, extra cheese — appear with their prices, exactly as the waiter would see them.
From scan to kitchen
- Each table has its own QR code, linked to that table and nothing else.
- The guest scans it — no app to install — and orders.
- The order reaches the kitchen (and the bar) as a normal ticket, just as if a waiter had entered it.
- Everyone at the table can add a round from their own phone; it all lands on one table bill.
- The table can pay by Fonepay QR there and then. If someone adds a round while a QR is on screen, the old QR is refused rather than under-charging.
Rather just read?
The same QR can open a printed-style menu book — laid out like a menu, not a spreadsheet — for tables that would rather order from a waiter. More on that in QR menus for restaurants. Payments are covered in Fonepay QR verification.
