Can the bar get only drink orders and the kitchen only food, on their own printers?
SajhiloStay HMS guide · Updated
Yes. Turn on station tickets and assign each item to a station — kitchen, bar, dessert, bakery or grill. One order becomes one KOT per station, shown on that station's screen and printed on its own network or USB printer through a small Windows print-bridge. A ticket only counts as printed once the printer confirms it.
A single kitchen screen works until there is a bar, a tandoor and a dessert counter, and every one of them is scrolling past orders that are not theirs. Station tickets split the order where it is made.
How an order is split
- Each item says where it is prepared: Kitchen, Bar, Dessert, Bakery, Grill — whatever stations you have. Whole menu categories can be assigned at once.
- An order for a beer, a club sandwich and a brownie becomes three tickets, one per station.
- A dish made in two places — patty on the grill, bun from the bakery — sends a ticket to each and is still billed once.
- Options and remarks ("no onion", "extra spicy") print on the ticket, so the dish does not come back.
- Tickets are numbered per day (for example KOT-20260823-0001). Adding to an order makes a new ticket; changing one cuts a CHANGE ticket instead of a confusing duplicate.
Printing on real printers
The print-bridge is a small program, downloaded from Settings with your hotel's details already filled in, that installs itself as a Windows service on one PC. It sends each ticket to that station's printer — on the network with its own IP, or plugged into the PC by USB, including the same printer you use for guest bills. If a printer is off, it waits and prints when it is back; nothing is lost.
Screens as well as paper
The kitchen screen can be filtered to one station, so the barman sees only the bar. Marking a ticket ready moves every line on it and pages the waiter once.
Station tickets are off by default, so a hotel with one kitchen sees no change. Related: how the POS talks to the kitchen.
